Julio Borbón Named First Base Coach
Former Outfielder Completes 2025 Major League Coaching Staff
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers today named Julio Borbón first base coach. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Christian Correa (2nd season) and Adam Weisenburger (5th season) will return as the team’s bullpen catchers.
Borbón, 38, spent three seasons (2022-24) in player development with the Minnesota Twins as assistant coordinator of instruction. He began his coaching career in the New York Yankees organization, where he served as the baserunning, outfield and bunting coach at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2019. He was slated to be the defensive coach for the Rookie Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the Minor League season. Borbón managed the Rookie Florida Complex League Yankees to a 36-16 record and the North Division championship in 2021.
A former outfielder, Borbón was selected by Texas in the supplemental first round (35th overall) of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee. He played 12 professional seasons (2007-18) and appeared in 294 games over parts of five years in the Major Leagues with Texas (2009-11, 2013), Chicago-NL (2013) and Baltimore (2016).
