MADISON — The campaign of Judge Jill Karofsky, candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, announced today that it had raised about $65,000 in just over one month, with more than 600 individual contributions fueling a strong grassroots campaign.

At the close of the Pre-Primary period ending on Feb. 3, the Karofsky campaign had raised more than $410,000 since the campaign began. Jill for Justice started advertising statewide last week and still had more than $80,000 on hand heading into the final two weeks of the primary contest on Feb. 18.

“Across the state, Judge Karofsky’s message is resonating with voters who want to rid the Supreme Court of the appearance of corruption and elect a justice that reflects Wisconsin values,” said Alanna Conley, spokesperson for Jill for Justice. “Our strong start to 2020 is thanks to our grassroots supporters, who not only donated, but are knocking on doors, calling voters, and distributing yard signs across the state to help elect the most qualified candidate in this race.”

The Spring Primary is Feb. 18, and the general election is set for April 7.

Judge Jill Karofsky currently serves as a circuit court judge in Dane County. On the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Judge Karofsky has pledged to uphold the rule of law and eliminate corruption. She is a former state and local prosecutor, served as executive director for the Wisconsin Office of Crime Victim Services, and worked as general counsel for the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

Karofsky is a recipient of the “Voices of Courage Award” from the WI Coalition Against Sexual Assault, was named the WI Victim/Witness Professional Association’s “Professional of the Year,” and earned a “Significant Impact” Award from a local organization dedicated to ending domestic violence. She currently serves on the Wisconsin Judicial Education Committee and chairs the Violence Against Women STOP Grant committee. She previously co-chaired the Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Response Team, and served on the Governor’s Council on Domestic Abuse, the WI Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, the Wisconsin Crime Victims Council, and the Dane County Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board of Directors.

Judge Karofsky has two children, a daughter in college and a son in high school. Born and raised in south-central Wisconsin, she attended public schools where she was a state tennis champion. After receiving her bachelor’s degree at Duke University, where she was a Division I athlete, she earned her J.D. and a master’s in public policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
