Jack Larsen Announces his Candidacy for Chair of the Young Democrats of Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Today, Jack Larsen announced his candidacy for Chair of the Young Democrats of Wisconsin. The position will be voted on at the Wisconsin Democrat’s State Convention in the Wisconsin Dells on June 14th and 15th.
Jack Larsen released the following statement:
“I’m incredibly excited to launch my campaign for Chair of the Young Democrats of Wisconsin with endorsements from State Representative Clint Anderson, Waukesha Common Council President and YDWI Secretary Alicia Halvensleben, Stevens Point Aldermen Dale Steinmetz and Sam Lang, and Brookfield Alderman Mike Hallquist.
As the first Chair of the 5th Congressional District Young Democrats, Mr. Larsen successfully organized events, engaged new members, and interfaced with statewide campaigns while supporting other youth organizations. As the second Vice-Chair of YDWI, he doubled membership of the organization while helping to elect the 2018 statewide slate of candidates, including three Young Democrats. As a March for Our Lives organizer, he successfully led 3,000 people to the steps of the State Capitol to advocate for Gun Violence Prevention and common sense policy. As a Congressional-level Field Director, he organized robust volunteer programs across 30 counties, engaging first-time canvassers and personally knocking thousands of doors to advocate for Democrats up and down the ballot. As a legislative staffer, he’s crafted policy while engaging with elected officials to promote our shared Democratic values.
The pillars of Mr. Larsen’s campaign include:
● Develop Robust Local Chapters using his background with WisDems and connections across the state to recruit new members and engage them in the broader party structure.
● Build the Bench of young elected officials and party leaders using his knowledge of campaign organization and party politics.
● Message to Young Peoples’ Concerns by putting forward a Young Democrats platform that speaks to young peoples’ concerns, engage with local activists and charities to better the communities we live in, and create a meaningful endorsement procedure.
● Solidify the working relationship between High School, College, and Young Democrats to keep activists engaged and provide valuable networking and mentorship opportunities.
