Jack Hackett ’13 Named Associate Head Cross Country Coach / Assistant Track and Field Coach

Former Marquette student-athlete Jack Hackett has been named Associate Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach, Marquette Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Bert Rogers announced on Monday.

“I’m very excited to welcome Jack back to Marquette,” Rogers said. “Jack had a storied career here as a runner and stayed heavily involved in the running scene in Milwaukee since he graduated. He has a passion for his craft and for Marquette. I know he is a great fit to lead the cross country and distance crew going forward.”

Hackett, from Port Washington, Wisconsin, has his own running business, Infinity Running Company, which he founded in 2018. He was a volunteer girls cross country coach at Muskego High School in 2015.

“I was thrilled at the chance to represent Marquette,” Hackett said. “Not only is it one of the best schools in the country and it means a lot to me personally, but there is a lot of potential in this team and this program, and I cannot wait to get started.”

Hackett ran cross country and track at MU and has multiple program top 10 marks. In indoor, he owns the second-fastest 3000m time and fourth-fastest mile time. In outdoor, he has the second-fastest 5000m and sixth-fastest 10,000m. Hackett was an NCAA qualifier in the 5000m in 2013 and competed at the NCAA West First Round in Austin, Texas.

He was a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic team selection and finished 35th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional his senior year in 2012, a career-best regional finish.

Hackett was a 14-time conference champion in track for Port Washington High School and won state his senior year in cross country.

Hackett graduated from Marquette in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. While at MU, he assisted in teaching undergraduate exercise physiology courses and was a volunteer assistant cross country coach at Marquette High School.
