Improvements coming to E. North Ave. will benefit commuters, pedestrians & cyclists
Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff said he is pleased to announce that the City of Milwaukee, in partnership with the East Side Business Improvement District, is poised to execute improvements to E. North Ave. from N. Humboldt Blvd. to N. Prospect Ave. to make the corridor safer and more enjoyable for all users.
“There has been a ton of positive input about this project, and I am looking forward to the coming transformation we will see along East North Avenue,” Alderperson Brostoff said.
“And I especially want to thank everyone in advance for your patience with this project. Once the dust settles, we will have a nicely improved stretch of East North Ave. that will more safely and efficiently accommodate ALL commuters and users,” he said.
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will be leading the project, and improvements will include:
- Concrete barriers for permanent bike lane protection
- Bus boarding islands
- New asphalt and lane restriping
- ADA-compliant sidewalk curb ramps
The Alderperson said traffic control will begin on September 16 and will include one-way westbound traffic on E. North Ave. between N. Humboldt Blvd. and N. Murray Ave., and two-way traffic on E. North Avenue between N. Farwell and N. Prospect Avenues.
