I-43 URT Bridge Project to Reopen Northbound Lane

Other current traffic patterns remain in place over winter months

By - Dec 14th, 2022 02:55 pm

As work approaches the end of the year on the I-43 URT (Union Refrigerator Transit Company) bridge project, WisDOT is notifying motorists of the following traffic patterns that will be in place over the next few winter months:

  • I-43 northbound reopens to three lanes near Glendale Avenue on Saturday morning, December 17, pending weather.
  • I-43 northbound traffic near Capitol Drive remains in its current configuration.
  • Southbound I-43 traffic remains in its current two-lane configuration on the new southbound pavement.
  • Various long-term ramp closures remain in place.

Crews will continue to work as weather permits and resume in spring 2023.  Next year, traffic patterns return to two lanes in each direction to enable the continued reconstruction and realignment of the new roadway and bridges.  For more information on the project, visit: https://projects.511wi.gov/43milw/.
