As part of the I-43 North-South project, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reaching a major milestone and will open the newly constructed third lane on northbound I-43, between Highland Road and WIS 60 (Washington Street), in Ozaukee County. The opening is scheduled for Friday, July 12.

The speed limit on northbound I-43, north of Highland Road, will return to 70 mph.

Southbound I-43 is scheduled to remain open to two (2) lanes of traffic through the summer.

The north end segment of the project began in early 2022 and spans approximately 5.6 miles from Highland Road to WIS 60 (Washington Street).

The entire I-43 North-South project is scheduled for completion in mid-2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
