Governor Walker Orders Flags to Half-Staff Honoring Army Sgt. 1st Class R. Lloyd Ketchum

Ketchum will be laid to rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Superior.

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker ordered flags to half-staff on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in honor of Army Sgt. 1st Class R. Lloyd Ketchum of Superior, who fell at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. Ketchum, who was a medic and member of the 31st Regimental Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, was posthumously awarded with the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery when his unit was overrun by enemy forces.

Ketchum will be laid to rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Superior.

“Sgt. 1st Class R. Lloyd Ketchum served with incredible valor and heroism at Chosin, protecting and aiding his fellow soldiers despite suffering severe wounds of his own,” said Governor Walker. “We are forever indebted to Sgt. 1st Class Ketchum for his sacrifice. It is a great honor to see him finally returned home to his family with the honors he deserves.”
