Governor Walker Appoints Attorney Derrick Grubb to Serve as Rock County Circuit Court Judge

Grubb has deep roots in the Rock County legal community, where he has practiced for 27 years.

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today appointed Attorney Derrick Grubb to serve as a judge on the Rock County Circuit Court, replacing retiring Judge R. Alan Bates.

“I am honored to appoint Derrick Grubb to the Rock County Circuit Court,” said Governor Walker. “Grubb has established himself as a respected and accomplished attorney in the Rock County area. His reputation for integrity and commitment to the rule of law confirm that he will be a valuable asset to both the bench and the surrounding community.”

Grubb has deep roots in the Rock County legal community, where he has practiced for 27 years. During this time, Grubb has represented over 1,300 clients and has litigated hundreds of trials and hearings before the court. Since 1997, Grubb has worked as sole practitioner and president of Grubb Law Firm, S.C., with a focus on personal injury, civil litigation, and family law matters. Grubb was the general manager at Beloit Ford, Lincoln-Mercury. Inc. from 2001-2003 and prior to that was appointed by the Rock County Board of Judges to serve as Guardian ad Litem for Rock County for four years.

Derrick was appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to the Office of Lawyer Regulation District 12 Committee where he served for nine years investigating grievances filed against attorneys. In addition to his legal experience, Grubb has been involved with his community as a member of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce and as a current volunteer and former board member of the Beloit Snappers.

Attorney George Steil, Jr. recommends Grubb stating, “Derrick is an experienced and competent litigator. I believe Derrick possesses the litigation skills and experience that are necessary to be a circuit court judge.”

Steven Eldred, CEO and Chairman of the Board of First National Bank and Trust wrote in support of Grubb, “Attorney Derrick A. Grubb has the credentials, experience, and wisdom to be a Rock County Circuit Court Judge.” He adds, “In addition to practicing law for twenty-seven years, he also has the necessary life experience to be a competent circuit court judge.”

“Derrick has the strength of character that will serve him well on the bench,” Rock County Deputy District Attorney Perry Folts said. “He will serve with integrity and make the residents of Rock County Proud.”

Grubb received his juris doctor degree from Marquette University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University. He resides in Beloit with his wife, Debbie. They have four adult children.
