Gov. Evers Appoints Benjamin Lindsay as Ozaukee County District Attorney
Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Benjamin Lindsay to serve as Ozaukee County District Attorney. The appointment fills a vacancy created by former District Attorney Adam Gerol’s appointment to the Ozaukee County Circuit Court – Branch 1. Lindsay will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2025.
“Benjamin Lindsay is an experienced prosecutor who is committed to a career of public service,” said Gov. Evers. “He will serve the people of Ozaukee County well as district attorney.”
Lindsay has been an assistant district attorney in Ozaukee County since June 2018. In this role, he prosecutes a wide variety of criminal offenses, including homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, drug trafficking, and impaired and reckless driving cases. He also serves as the juvenile justice prosecutor in Ozaukee County. Previously, he was an assistant district attorney in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for six years, where he prosecuted a general felony caseload and became a supervising attorney overseeing a team of five prosecutors.
“I know, from my many years working alongside Ben Lindsay, that he will be an outstanding district attorney who will zealously defend the safety and security of our community,” said former Ozaukee County District Attorney and current Ozaukee County Circuit Court Judge Adam Gerol.
Lindsay resides in Cedarburg with his family and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Prior to his legal career, he worked in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel from 2006 to 2008.
“I am excited and honored to serve as Ozaukee County District Attorney and will work hard to ensure the safety of our community,” said Lindsay. “The governor’s appointment will help ensure continuity of leadership in the office during this transition period. Thank you to Governor Evers for this opportunity to continue to serve the people of Ozaukee County.”
