Giannis Antetokounmpo Named Eastern Conference Player Of The Week
MILWAUKEE (Jan. 20, 2025) – Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 13 (Jan. 13-19), the NBA announced today. This is Antetokounmpo’s second Player of the Week honor this season and the 25th of his career.
Leading the Bucks to a four-game win streak and perfect 4-0 record last week, Antetokounmpo averaged 32.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 66.7% from the field. He opened the week with 33 points, 11 rebounds and a season-high-tying 13 assists to tally his fifth triple-double of the season against Sacramento on Tuesday before scoring 26 points and hauling in 11 rebounds against Orlando on Wednesday. Antetokounmpo closed out the week with back-to-back 30-point double-doubles, with 35 points and 13 rebounds against Toronto on Friday and 34 points and 15 rebounds against Philadelphia on Sunday.
Antetokounmpo is averaging a league-high-tying 31.5 points, 12.0 rebounds (5th in NBA), and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 60.5% from the field (T-8th in NBA) this season. He has recorded 13 consecutive double-doubles, which is the second-longest active streak in the NBA this season and the third-longest of his career, and his 31 double-doubles this season are the third-most in the league. Helping the Bucks win seven of their last eight games and post a 24-17 record overall this season, Antetokounmpo is on pace to tally the second season in NBA history with 30+ points on 60% shooting, after he became the first player in league history to reach those figures in a season in 2023-24.
