Mayor Cavalier Johnson
Press Release

Get your flu shot today!

Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson October 20, 2021

By - Oct 20th, 2021 01:18 pm

Earlier today I joined Health Commissioner Kirsten Johnson at Neighborhood House to receive my flu shot, and I’m encouraging residents across the city to do the same.

While communities across the country did not see as much of the flu last year, with children resuming in-person schooling, and more people returning to activities indoors, I would urge people to receive their flu shot to help prevent any serious illness and limit any additional stresses on our healthcare systems which continue to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The fact is receiving a flu shot is quick and easy, and they are widely available.

During the 2021-2022 flu season the Milwaukee Health Department is offering free flu vaccines for individuals 6 months of age and older, and no appointment is necessary.
