Gathering Place Brewing Hires Head Brewer
Corey Blodgett joins Gathering Place from Widmer Brothers Brewing where he served at the Lead Innovation Brewer.
Gathering Place Brewing Company has hired Corey Blodgett to be the Head Brewer. Blodgett, a native of Waterford, WI, is an award-winning brewer with more than 14 years of brewing experience at craft breweries in the Pacific Northwest.
Blodgett joins Gathering Place from Widmer Brothers Brewing where he served at the Lead Innovation Brewer. He was instrumental in developing new recipes for year-round and seasonal beers in the Widmer portfolio. He has won numerous awards over the course of his career and has collaborated with brewers across the Pacific Northwest, as well as Japan, to create brilliant beers.
“Corey is an incredibly knowledgeable brewer with the perfect combination of experience and skill necessary to craft exceptional beers,” said Joe Yeado, founder and president of Gathering Place Brewing Co. “Corey’s brewing expertise and understanding of the industry will be invaluable as we grow. We’re thrilled that he is joining the Gathering Place team.”
Prior to his time at Widmer Brothers, Blodgett was the Head Brewer at Maritime Pacific Brewing in Seattle. He started his brewing career with McMenamins Pubs and Breweries at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse location in Hillsboro, OR, rising to the role of Lead Brewer. Blodgett completed brewing training at the Siebel Institute in Chicago and is a member of the Master Brewers Association of America.
“Returning to the city of Milwaukee and the Riverwest neighborhood is exciting,” Blodgett said. “Little did I know my foray into home brewing would bring me back 20 years later. It will be a pleasure working with Joe, who has as much passion about beer and the city of Milwaukee as I do. Together, we will not only bring more great beer to the City of Brewers but we will also do our share to help shape its future.”
Gathering Place Brewing Company is an independent brewery in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood dedicated to crafting vibrant and unique beers that reflect the vibrant and unique community it calls home. Community engagement is integral to the business and Gathering Place will donate at least 1% of sales each quarter to local non-profit organizations. The brewery plans to be open in mid-summer.
