Alderman Scott Spiker invites residents to join him in kicking off the holiday season in the Garden District at the 9th Annual Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 2 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at 6th and Norwich (one block south of Howard), and include a short program followed by the tree lighting ceremony and caroling from local schools.

The tree lighting marks the beginning of the Garden District’s Winter Wonderland. This festive showcase (running Dec. 2 – Jan. 9) includes 140 lighted displays totaling 30,000 lights for families and children of all ages to enjoy. The displays feature original artwork by local high school students and other community members.

Additional events will take place throughout the duration of the Winter Wonderland. Immediately following both singing sessions will be a secret Santa workshop where children can wrap a free gift for a family member to take home for Christmas.
