Free Choral Concert April 8 Features Music for Women’s Voices

Music and poetry on themes of freedom, peace, dance and music will be featured in a performance by the Collegium Ladyes choral ensemble at 7 pm Friday, April 8, 2022. The concert will be held at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, 2366 N. 80th Street, Milwaukee.

The April 8 program, “Now We Are Free,” includes compositions by Henry Purcell, Gabriel Faure, Hans Zimmer, Ola Gjeilo, Sarah Quartel, and others, sung a cappella and accompanied by piano, organ, cello and djembe.  Special guest Godwin Friesen, a finalist in the PianoArts North American competition, also will perform.

The Ladyes performs choral music in a broad spectrum of styles, ranging from medieval to contemporary. Formed in 2011, the 16-member ensemble reaches out to a wide audience in diverse venues. Artistic Director Jenny Gettel, Director of Music at All Saints’ Cathedral in Milwaukee, teaches voice at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and Concordia University Wisconsin.

This concert is open to the public without charge. Free will offerings are accepted. The performance also will be live-streamed on the Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church YouTube channel.

The Ladyes are fully vaccinated and perform with masks. Audience members are asked to wear masks.
