WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Republicans passed the Strategic Production Response Act to ensure our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is refilled and preserved for national emergencies.
House Republicans demand a plan from the White House to restore our stockpile and protect our nation’s energy security.
“President Biden has taken extreme actions to kill off American energy production since taking office and we’ve felt the impact, said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. Instead of reversing course, Joe Biden has drained our SPR more than every other President in history combined. This is unacceptable and we’re demanding a concrete plan from the administration to refill our emergency reserves.”

I thought President Biden released Petroleum reserves to lower the cost of gas when it was over $5/gal. Who would have thought that assisting Americans was simply a political gesture? More importantly, what politician in their right mind would consider assisting working and retired Americans struggling is nothing more than politics?
There is a deeper concern. Who benefits from a fully stocked Petroleum Reserve? Given the way petroleum producers behaved this past year (given higher prices and obscene profits) it appears that reserve is for their benefit. They use it to keep falling gas prices from eating into profits and political donations to Republicans like Fitzgerald.
Hey, if you are a working class schmuck and love being lied to, the GOP (and this press release) are for you! And when their lies have rendered your cognitive abilities useless, just attack your perceived enemy with a hammer! “Fitzy and Friends” are down with it!
