MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Lifelong Milwaukeean and progressive Democrat Nas Musa is running for District 3 Alderman with a clear and urgent pledge: to fight to reopen the Engine 6 firehouse on the corner of Franklin and Brady streets.

“Public safety is a top priority for every resident, and as Alderman, I’ll fight to reopen the Brady Street area firehouse for MFD Engine 6 because public safety in District 3 is my top priority too,” Musa stated.

Nas Musa brings a unique perspective to this race as the child of immigrants, a dedicated father of three, and a successful business owner in Milwaukee for over 20 years. Musa has honed his leadership, team-building, and budget management skills – qualities he promises to bring to City Hall.

Nas Musa’s vision for Milwaukee centers on four key pillars:

  1. A Safe Future Rooted in Justice
Safety goes beyond policing. Nas Musa is committed to addressing the root causes of violence and crime with compassion, fostering a city where everyone can thrive. As a leader from Milwaukee’s Black and Brown community, he will promote mutual respect and accountability.
  2. Housing That Reflects Our Values
Musa is determined to tackle the housing crisis by increasing affordable housing, advocating for renters, and supporting homeowners, ensuring Milwaukee remains accessible for seniors, workers, and families.
  3. Economic Growth That Lifts Us All
By revitalizing neighborhoods, supporting small businesses, creating good-paying jobs, and maintaining stellar city services, Musa envisions an economy that works for everyone.
  4. Investing in Youth and Environmental Protection
Nas Musa believes in safeguarding Milwaukee’s future through investments in public school wraparound services, youth programs, job training, and environmental stewardship to protect green spaces and create a sustainable city.

“Milwaukee deserves bold leadership rooted in justice and progress,” Musa said. “I know this city from the ground up, and I am ready to fight for a safer, stronger future for District 3 residents.”

BENEFITS OF REOPENING ENGINE 6 FIREHOUSE

Reopening a neighborhood fire station, such as Engine 6 in Milwaukee’s Brady Street area, would have a significant positive impact on public safety, community wellbeing, and economic vitality throughout Milwaukee’s East Side. Below are the key benefits:

    1. Faster Emergency Response Times
      • A local fire station reduces response times for fires, medical emergencies, and other crises. This is critical in growing and densely populated areas like the East Side, where minutes can make the difference between life and death or saving versus losing property.
    2. Improved Public Safety
      • With a dedicated fire station in the neighborhood, residents, businesses, and visitors would feel more secure. This enhanced safety could foster greater community engagement and encourage more people to visit and live in the area.
    3. Support for Local Businesses and Attractions
      • Brady Street is a hub for dining, nightlife, and retail. A nearby fire station ensures quicker responses to emergencies in businesses, protecting investments and livelihoods. It also boosts the confidence of business owners and customers alike.
    4. Strengthened Community Relationships
      • Local fire stations often play a visible role in the community, fostering trust between first responders and residents. Firefighters stationed locally are more likely to understand the unique needs and challenges of the area.
    5. Enhanced Emergency Preparedness
      • Reopening Engine 6 would improve Milwaukee’s ability to respond to large-scale emergencies, such as apartment fires or other disasters, particularly in an area with older infrastructure and much newer, high-density housing.
      • Increased Property Values and Insurance Benefits
      • Proximity to a fire station often reduces homeowners’ insurance premiums and increases property values, making the neighborhood more attractive to residents and investors.
    6. Community Health Improvements
      • Many fire stations are trained to handle medical emergencies as first responders. Their presence can lead to better health outcomes in cases of heart attacks, strokes, or accidents in the neighborhood.
    7. Job Creation and Civic Pride
      • Reopening a fire station creates jobs for firefighters, support staff, and contractors. It also signals investment in public safety infrastructure, increasing civic pride in Milwaukee.

Reopening Engine 6 would be more than just a return of fire services—it would represent a commitment to the safety, prosperity, and resilience of one of Milwaukee’s most iconic neighborhoods.
