Festival City Symphony Brings Musical Storytelling to Life With “Pictures at an Exhibition”

Saturday Classics Concert Welcomes Girl Scouts on March 7 at Bradley Symphony Center

MILWAUKEE, WI (February 12, 2026)Festival City Symphony invites audiences of all ages to experience the power of musical storytelling at its upcoming Saturday Classics concert, “Pictures at an Exhibition,” on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the stunning Bradley Symphony Center.

This engaging afternoon of orchestral music features three vibrant masterworks that bring stories, scenes, and images to life through sound. The program opens with Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, an energetic and accessible introduction to the instruments and sections of the orchestra.

Next, selections from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite transport listeners through moments of beauty and adventure—from the calm glow of Morning Mood to the dramatic excitement of In the Hall of the Mountain King. The concert concludes with Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a richly imaginative musical walk through an art gallery, where each movement transforms a visual image into a vivid emotional experience.

Festival City Symphony’s Saturday Classics series is designed to welcome both first-time listeners and seasoned symphony fans. Concerts are free to attend with a suggested donation, making exceptional classical music accessible to the entire community.

Each performance includes a free, on-stage pre-concert presentation, “Unlocking the Score,” beginning at 1:30 p.m. Music educator Lynn Roginske guides audiences through the themes and techniques of the program, helping listeners of all ages deepen their connection to the music.

Admission: Free with a suggested donation of $14 for adults and $8 for children, students, and seniors.

A Special Invitation to Girl Scouts

Festival City Symphony is proud to welcome Girl Scouts, along with their families and friends, to this special performance. Girl Scouts are encouraged to arrive early for enhanced pre-concert activities designed just for them.

Girl Scout highlights include:

  • Commemorative patch for each Girl Scout in attendance (available at the information table on concert day)
  • Pre-concert, on-stage activities at 1:30 p.m.:
    • Meet the Musicians instrument demonstrations
    • Child-friendly Unlocking the Score discussion
    • Welcome from the conductor
  • A 90-minute concert performed by Festival City Symphony’s professional 65-piece orchestra

Attendance and activities relate to or complete Steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Junior Musician badge, making this event both fun and educational for Girl Scouts of all ages.

Participating troops may enter a drawing to host a Girl Scout Cookie Booth in the lobby during intermission, as well as before and after the concert. Sign-up is available on the ticket order form. Winning troops will be notified on February 27, 2026.
