Families Invited To Explore Montessori Options At Annual Montessori Community Summit
Milwaukee Public Schools invites families to a community summit to learn about the district’s premiere Montessori school options. The summit will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Edward MacDowell School (6415 W. Mount Vernon Ave.), from 1 to 4 pm.
The Montessori teaching method uses a child’s natural environment to discover skills for life-long learning and development in a creative environment. The community summit will show families how those methods are applied. They will have opportunities to observe a Glass Classroom, listen to trained MPS Montessori teachers, and get answers to questions about the benefits of a Montessori education.
“Public Montessori schools may be one of the best-kept secrets in education,” said Abigail Rausch, Montessori Coordinator. “At MPS, all students have access to a tuition-free, high-quality Montessori experience.”
MPS offers one of the nation’s largest clusters of public Montessori schools: eight tuition-free Montessori Schools enroll more than 4,000 students annually. MacDowell Montessori is one of the only public K-12 Montessori schools in the nation, and Riley Dual Language Montessori School is the only public English/Spanish Montessori program in Wisconsin.

Any child who will be age 3 or 4 by September 1 is eligible to apply for the Montessori program. Children who enroll by March 5, 2023 are more likely to get placed in their first-choice school for Fall 2023.
