End Citizens United Endorses Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin Governor

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race.

“Wisconsin needs a governor who is accountable to working families, not to corporate special interests or billionaires, and that’s exactly who Mandela Barnes has always been,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “As a lifelong public servant and community organizer, Mandela understands how corruption in Madison prevents progress on the most important issues to Wisconsinites. With Big Money special interests amassing unprecedented power and wealth, we need Mandela’s leadership to tackle corruption and put government on the side of working people. We’re proud to endorse him, and we look forward to helping him become Wisconsin’s next governor.”

“Wisconsin communities are getting crushed by Washington under Donald Trump, with costs rising on everyday goods while a constant stream of chaos divides us. This people-powered campaign is about bringing people together the Wisconsin Way,” said former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes. “I’m grateful for the support of End Citizens United and look forward to working together to stand up to Trump, bring down costs and build a better future for every family across our state.”

After serving as Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor, Barnes was the President of the voter turnout organization Power to the Polls. His dedication to voting rights extends from elected office to his nonprofit work to the campaign trail. Barnes has long championed anti-corruption reforms, including supporting a constitutional amendment to overturn the devastating Citizens United decision, fixing national redistricting rules to outlaw partisan gerrymandering, and expanding online voter registration among other key reforms.
