DWD Expands Unemployment Insurance Dashboards with Data on Claims by Industry

By - Oct 10th, 2024 01:01 pm

MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) today announced its expansion of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) statistics dashboard. The dashboard now features interactive displays of UI claims by industry based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code associated with a claimant’s separating employer. Statewide UI claims by industry data can also be filtered by one or multiple counties.

Initially released in May 2022 and expanded in April 2024, the UI statistics dashboard provides useful information on UI claims statewide and by county, benefit payments, adjudication issues, appeals, and help center call metrics. The UI statistics dashboard is refreshed each Thursday, offering up-to-date, easily accessible data.

“We are thrilled to build on public resources that offer valuable information about our unemployment claims,” DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said. “In today’s ever-changing world, it is important to have timely data accessible to meet Wisconsin’s diverse workforce needs. These statistics will help employers and workforce system stakeholders analyze industry trends within a county, region, and across the state.”

This expansion provides commonly requested data to the public in a dynamic format. Users can interact with the dashboard by hovering, clicking, multi-selecting, or toggling fields to access the specific information they need.

The following measures are available for both initial and weekly claims:

  • Top industries per week;
  • Top industries year-to-date;
  • Historical information for a single industry or multiple industries (by count or percentage);
  • Claims for a single industry summarized by county; and
  • The percentage of total claims by industry and county.

To access the new claims by industry statistics, visit the Claims Filed section of the UI Statistics Dashboard.
