DWD Awarded for Innovative Visual Catalog of Data Dashboards
WisConomy tools provide easy access to information for users
MADISON – The Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute has nationally recognized the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) for presenting the public with clear, accessible economic data.
The many Wisconsin-specific dashboards present a range of economic topics, including career and salary trends, hot jobs, industry projections and employment statistics. Developed by the Bureau of Workforce Information and Technical Support, they deliver valuable economic data in visual and easily digestible formats. They are found together under the “dashboard” button at DWD’s Wisconomy website.
“Providing clear and accurate labor market information to Wisconsin through these accessible and innovative dashboards helps inform decisions and fuel economic growth,” DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said. “We are pleased to be recognized for our efforts to support workers and employers in our growing economy.”
Four new dashboards were added in the last year:
- County profiles, which provide county-level information, analysis, and data to help employers, job seekers, economic developers, and other workforce partners make decisions related to the labor market economy in their area.
- Nurse Survey Review, a summary of responses to annual surveys distributed to Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to support policymakers in evaluating the supply of, demand for, and turnover among nurses in the state.
- Career Pathways and Career Pathway Resources, which give snapshots of opportunities to enter and advance in various occupations.
Users can customize each of 24 dashboards, save them, download them, and access updated data. The Career Pathways and Career Pathway Resources dashboards, used by career planners, educators, students, and parents, were a collaboration between DWD’s Bureau of Workforce Information and Technical Support, Workforce Data Integration System, and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
The Bureau of Workforce Information and Technical Support analyzes and distributes impactful labor market information throughout Wisconsin. The LMI Institute is a national resource for supporting the development, interpretation, and use of labor market information. The Council for Community and Economic Research supports community prosperity by promoting excellence and leadership in community, economic, and workforce research.
