Drink for the Hungry: Deschutes Street Pub
Traveling brew pub hits Milwaukee Saturday; proceeds benefit Hunger Task Force
MILWAUKEE – (July 18, 2017) – Milwaukee will host Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery and its epic Street Pub this Saturday, July 22, from 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. The 400-ft traveling festival, which chooses charitable organizations to support nationwide at each location, has selected Hunger Task Force, along with Westown Association, to be this year’s local beneficiaries.
Street Pub organizers are excited and prepared to host Milwaukee’s robust beer-loving population with plenty of Deschutes’ originals, mainline brews and barrel-aged specialty ales, combined with local favorites and guest taps from Third Space Brewing, to round out a 50+ beer selection. Visitors can also try out the SHOTSKI, enjoy culinary pairings from local chefs, check out live cooking demos, enter to win raffle prizes and watch in awe as artist Karen Eland creates live paintings with beer.
Deschutes also partnered with 88Nine Radio Milwaukee to provide festive, local music flavor to the party, featuring jams throughout the day by B-Free, Midwest Death Rattle, Queen Hilma and Swift Technique.
Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the kid’s zone, which features activities and games for the little ones. A bike valet will be available for visitors to avoid parking and traffic, and local street vendors will offer crafts and collectibles. Street Pub partners Hydro Flask, Humm Kombucha and KEEN Footwear will also be onsite, offering collaborative projects and activities, games, a photo booth and much more.
Admission for Deschutes Street Pub is FREE and open to the public. At the event, pints of each brew are available for tokens, which cost $5 each. A VIP package is also available and includes exclusive access to specialty beer tastings, rare barrel tastings, catered appetizers, two beer tokens, a Hydro Flask True Pint, a 50% off KEEN shoe card, Humm Kombucha on tap and plenty of fun swag! The VIP lounge will be located inside Milwaukee’s beautiful Historical Society Building in Pere Marquette Park.
Volunteers are also needed to make this event a success. All volunteers will receive Deschutes Brewery swag and beer for those who are of age. Visit the Hunger Task Force website for more information.
The Street Pub will be located downtown along Old World Third Street, near Kilbourn Avenue.
