Democrats Vote Again to Suspend Debt Ceiling, Write Blank Check for their Partisan Agenda

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement after Democrats voted to suspend our nation’s debt ceiling for the third time over the past month, writing a blank check for their multi-trillion dollar partisan agenda:

“Democrats have embarked on a massive and unprecedented deficit spending spree since taking control of Congress and the White House. Without a single Republican vote they passed a $1.9 trillion ‘COVID relief’ bill back in March, and they have a combined $5.5 trillion infrastructure and budget reconciliation package in the pipeline as well. It’s unfortunate that Democrats want American taxpayers to give them a blank check to fund President Biden and Speaker Pelosi’s socialist agenda. I certainly wont stand for this or aid them in creating trillions of dollars in new debt,” said Congressman Fitzgerald.

This – and other – Fitzgerald statements should be very useful for voters in making their decision next year. As a pundit once said, people don’t believe lies because they have to, but because they want to. Or, as George Costanza of Seinfeld told us, “It’s not a lie if I believe it.” So, for starters, if voters believe that the United States should default on its debt, they should stick with Mr. Fitzgerald. You’ll be able to blame it all on the Democrats.

If they believe that the debt is for the Democrats’ spending bills, they should vote for Mr. Fitzgerald and the rest of the Trump/Republican ticket. Even if it is a lie, since none of that infrastructure spending has taken place. Much of this debt is to pay for the recent Republican tax cut for corporations and the richest Americans, a cut that Fitzgerald and others (falsely) told us would pay for itself with an economic boom that would generate enormous revenues.

If they believe that decades of disinvestment in our physical and human infrastructure was the right thing to do, and that we should not change course, and that paying taxes is theft, and that you can never trust government except when Donald Trump or Scott Walker is at the top, be sure to vote for Scott Fitzgerald. And, if you believe that fixing our infrastructure and doing something about child care and related issues is “socialism,” and that we are the next Venezuela, be sure to stick with the Republicans. And, if you live in fear that one of your hard-earned tax dollars might go to help “the others,” you can count on Scott to stick with you and prevent that from happening. Note: you might also want to travel to another country to see just how far we have fallen behind.

And, finally, and most important, if you believe, as Fitzgerald and the rest claim to, that Donald Trump won the election, and that the only legitimate democracy is the one where Trump and Fitzgerald always come out on top, and it has to be clear to everyone that white people are still the #1 race, be sure to vote for the Republican slate. And, don’t forget, they’re not lies if you believe them. And, also don’t forget, someday this will all be in the rear-view mirror, and the cost of these lies will have become very clear.
