“I am running for State Assembly to create a safer, smarter, healthier Wisconsin.”

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Deb Andraca announced her candidacy for the closely-watched 23rd Assembly District seat today, a race that was among the closest contests in the 2018 elections.

“I am running for State Assembly to create a safer, smarter, healthier Wisconsin,” said Andraca. “This means safer gun laws, support for our schools and teachers, a clean environment and better access to health care for Wisconsin families.”

“I knew it was time for new leadership in Madison when Jim Ott refused to support background checks on all gun sales,” said Andraca. “Common sense gun laws are supported by 80% of Wisconsin residents. Jim Ott doesn’t believe in climate change and he supports measures that cut funding from our public schools. We need leaders who will fight for Wisconsin families and create a better future for our kids.”

Deb and Marc Andraca have been married for 21 years and they have two teenage daughters and dog. Presently Deb is a substitute teacher with the Whitefish Bay School District and at Bruce Guadalupe Community School. She spent most of the past 17 years as a stay-at-home mom while serving at different times as a PTO president, Girl Scout leader, community volunteer, and travel writer. Before moving to Milwaukee, Andraca was a vice president at a global public relations firm, communications director for the Chicago-based Environmental Law and Policy Center, and a press secretary on a Congressional campaign. Andraca earned her teaching license at Alverno College, has a masters’ degree in political management from the George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. With the exception of two years spent living and traveling in Singapore for Marc’s job, the Andracas have lived in the 23rd district for 17 years.
