Day 13: Paul Ryan of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District won’t even respond to Ryan Solen’s request for a debate.
The point of a debate is to educate voters on the issues and our stances.
Mount Pleasant, WI- Ryan Solen wants to be the Representative for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District; does Paul Ryan?
The Democratic nominee to represent Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District has reached out to Paul Ryan several times about holding a debate before the start of the next session of Congress and, after 13 days, Paul Ryan simply hasn’t responded. In fact, Paul Ryan isn’t even bothering to stay in his district or even Wisconsin during Congress’ unusually long summer break. Rather, he is traveling to 12 other states to campaign for other Republicans.
When asked about the situation, Solen responded, “I’m not sure that Paul Ryan is taking this seriously. The point of a debate is to educate voters on the issues and our stances. I understand that he’s busy. Everybody is. Maybe he and his campaign assume that this election is already over. Regardless, by ignoring the election, he’s ignoring the people as well.”
Ryan Solen has asked the people of the 1st Congressional District of Wisconsin and the rest of the United States to call Paul Ryan on his behalf to ask why he will not agree to a debate before the next session of Congress, and to urge him to respond to Ryan Solen. The situation appears to be a parallel of Paul Ryan’s obstruction in the House and his refusal to work with other parties.
Concerned citizens can call Paul Ryan’s campaign headquarters in Janesville at 608-754-8099, his Washington, D.C., office at 202-225-3031, or his constituent offices in Janesville at 888-909-RYAN (7926), in Kenosha at 262-654-1901, and in Racine at 262-637-0510 to find out why Paul Ryan will not engage with Ryan Solen in this great American campaign tradition.
It has been thirteen days since the first request was made. The House will be in session again September 6.
