Crowley: Wisconsin Families Can’t Afford More of Trump and Tiffany’s Failed Economy

MILWAUKEE – Following last week’s disappointing jobs report showing the U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, with previous months revised sharply downward, Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley said Wisconsin cannot afford Congressman Tom Tiffany‘s continued support for Donald Trump‘s economic agenda. Today’s report also comes as inflation continues to outpace wage growth for the fourth straight month, leaving working families falling further behind.

“Working families were promised lower costs and a stronger economy. Instead, they’re watching jobs disappear while their paychecks fail to keep up with rising prices,” said David Crowley. “Wisconsin families deserve leadership that is focused on lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, and growing our economy from the middle out, not politicians who blindly support an agenda that isn’t delivering.”

Crowley said this report is the latest warning sign that the Trump economic agenda is failing working people while Congressman Tiffany continues to stand behind it without question.

“Tom Tiffany has been a reliable rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s economic agenda every step of the way. He has supported policies like Trump’s tariff tax and nearly $1 trillion in cuts to healthcare and food assistance that have made it harder for families to get ahead while offering no real solutions as costs continue to climb,” said Crowley. Wisconsin needs a governor who will fight for workers, invest in our economy, and stand up to Washington when bad policies threaten our state’s future.”

As Milwaukee County Executive, Crowley has focused on creating jobs, expanding economic opportunity, investing in infrastructure, and strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce.

“Leadership means delivering results, not excuses. As governor, I’ll work every day to create good-paying jobs, lower costs for families, and build an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected,” concluded Crowley.

David Crowley is the Milwaukee County Executive and the first African American and youngest person elected to that office. Raised in Milwaukee in a union household, David has balanced billion-dollar budgets, delivered the largest property tax cut in county history, cut opioid overdose deaths in half, and added over 1,000 units of affordable housing in six years, including in suburban communities for the first time. He has won every race for the Wisconsin State Legislature and Milwaukee County Executive.

The Democratic primary is August 11, 2026. For more information about Crowley and his campaign, visit crowleyforwi.com.
