County Executive David Crowley Declares Snow Emergency
Beginning Thursday, February 16 at 6am
MILWAUKEE, WI – In consultation with the Director of the Office of Emergency Management, County Executive David Crowley has declared a snow emergency beginning at 6 AM Thursday, February 16 lasting through 12 AM Friday, February 17.
Milwaukee County is expected to see high winds and snow accumulation beginning Thursday morning.
Milwaukee County’s Administrative Manual of Operating Procedures states in a snow emergency all non-essential departments will be closed, for the safety of county employees and the public, resulting in the closure of several county facilities including the Milwaukee County Courthouse, Vel Phillips Detention Center, and Marcia P. Coggs Building (with the exception of the Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Teams).Certain departments, and in some cases certain positions, are defined as being essential to performing duties during the snow emergency, and therefore those employees in those departments will resume work as usual.
Non-essential ‘Telework Able’ employees should telework. Scheduled employees who are non-essential but unable to telework should use the CLOSE code in Dayforce when recording their hours for the day.
Unsheltered residents are encouraged to call 211 for information on the closest warming center that is open to them and help accessing a shelter through a coordinated intake process.
Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Service’s Access Clinics will be closed. If you or someone you know may be facing a crisis, please call the crisis line at 414-257-7222.
