Council approves resolution related to ARPA fund distribution and tracking
The Common Council today unanimously approved file #210368 – a resolution relating to a poverty-level based apportionment of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The file was authored by Alderman Khalif J. Rainey, and directs the Department of Administration to collect specific ARPA geographic apportionment data and present it to the Common Council on a quarterly basis.
“As has been said many times, this federal funding represents an immense opportunity for our city. The funding is urgently needed and we must ensure an equitable recovery, and we must make sure these dollars are supporting the areas of greatest need, and this file allows the Council to monitor progress by receiving regular reports in specific census tracts moving forward,” Alderman Rainey said. “I want to thank my colleagues for supporting this file as we continue to progress on our journey to strengthen our city for everyone, and especially those in most need.”
Co-sponsors of the file are: Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II; Alderman Ashanti Hamilton; Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs; Alderman Michael J. Murphy; Alderwoman Chantia Lewis; Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic; Alderman José G. Pérez; Alderwoman Nikiya Dodd; Alderman Nik Kovac, and Alderman Robert J. Bauman.
