Congresswoman Gwen Moore Votes Against Sham Impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
“I am once again voting ‘No’ on the politically motivated, baseless impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Secretary Mayorkas is a devoted public servant who continues to work with the resources he has to address the humanitarian crisis at the border. This ongoing crisis makes it clear that Congress must act to provide meaningful immigration reform to give our executive branch, the Biden administration, the resources it needs. Many House Republicans refuse to work with Democrats and the Biden administration to advance immigration reform and have opposed funding to support CBP, including President Biden’s $13.6 billion border funding bill. It is also worth mentioning again that despite Speaker Johnson refusing to come to the table to work with Democrats, he opposed the Senate’s bipartisan immigration bill pared with foreign aid. Some House Republicans have openly said they refuse to support any immigration reform because they see these efforts as a political advantage for President Biden.
Today, MAGA House Republicans are doubling down on their extremism and putting partisan political games above the needs of the country.”
