Congresswoman Gwen Moore Opposes GOP Safety Net Cuts to Pay for Tax Cuts to Billionaires and Big Corporations

“My constituents depend on programs like BadgerCare and have called my office, telling me to oppose this budget resolution because it threatens care for them and their children. I will always stand with them and fight for their needs, which is why I voted NO today.

The Republican budget resolution prioritizes billionaires and big corporations above everyday Americans. Programs such as Medicaid, ACA premium subsidies, clean energy tax credits, Head Start and Pell grants are on the chopping block to fund Republicans’ $4.5 trillion-dollar tax giveaways to billionaires and big corporations. Make no mistake, the GOP economic agenda will raise health care and energy costs for Americans as inflation continues to squeeze Americans. Republicans campaigned on addressing inflation, but when they have a trifecta, they do the opposite.

I also strongly oppose the attacks on our safety net. For many veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and struggling families, SNAP is the difference between having food on the table and going hungry. Medicaid is another lifeline for millions of Americans in all congressional districts. Instead of investing in everyday people, Republicans chose to put them on the menu.”
