Community input sought for Emigh Playfield enhancement

By - Oct 7th, 2021 09:07 am

Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic is joining Milwaukee School Board Member Megan O’Halloran in seeking community input on the proposed enhancement to Emigh Playfield located at 495 E. Morgan Ave. The project, which is a partnership between Milwaukee Recreation and the Bay View Neighborhood Association, seeks to include the addition of Milwaukee’s first and only wheel park to the playfield’s northwest side. The wheel park would provide families with a safe and legal space for wheel sports including BMX, skateboards, scooters and skates.

“It’s always exciting when we have a chance to reimagine our public spaces and innovate with new ideas like the addition of a wheel park,” Ald. Dimitrijevic said. “Public input remains a crucial part of the process, and I would encourage residents to take advantage of the opportunities available to share their thoughts and ideas.”

There are multiple ways for area residents to engage in the process. The first would be attending the community engagement session scheduled for Saturday, October 16 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Emigh Playfield. The session will provide an opportunity to talk with staff, provide feedback, and view renderings of the proposed enhancement.

Residents are also encouraged to take the online survey to provide additional insight. For updates and additional information, please visit the Emigh Playfield website.
