MILWAUKEE_”The Urban Forum @ City Hall: Hearing Community Voices” will  feature  community leaders, scholars, students and public officials discussing vital Milwaukee issues and potential solutions. The forum’s theme emphasizes the importance of ground level community voices and community engagement to address topics such as affordable housing, commuter rail, industrial districts and pedestrian safety, to name just a few.

Located in the Milwaukee City Hall rotunda from 2:30 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3, the forum features student posters and presentations (at 3 p.m.), a panel discussion (4 p.m.), and a pop-up exhibit.

Panelists include:

The forum is affiliated with UWM’s “That Unfinished Work: Collecting Histories of Ordinary People” project, which uses storytelling methodology to convey the voices of Milwaukee citizens, and with the “Climates of Inequality” international traveling exhibit currently on display at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. That exhibit also uses community storytelling collected from multiple locations, including Milwaukee, along with other multimedia elements to illuminate environmental challenges and sustainable solutions proposed by the people most impacted.

The forum is presented by the UWM Urban Studies Programs, Milwaukee County Historical Society, and the Buildings-Landscapes-Cultures Field School at UWM.

More information about the forum can be found online.
