Committee to hear update on American Rescue Plan Act funds used for housing rehabilitation

The Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee tomorrow (Tuesday, February 22) will hear a communication file from the Department of City Development (DCD) relating to its use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for housing rehabilitation. The file (#211451) is sponsored by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs who last year was the lead sponsor of a resolution that created a framework to best maximize ARPA dollars allocated toward housing rehabilitation and new construction.

“The Council spent much time debating the best use of ARPA dollars, and when it comes to housing we agreed that certain criteria needed to be evaluated to ensure an equitable impact was being made with every dollar spent,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “Tomorrow’s file should provide a detailed update on where we are at in the process and allow for a transparent conversation about the use of the federal stimulus money.”

The Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee meeting will take place at 9 a.m. tomorrow and will be streamed live on the City Channel (channel 25 on Spectrum Cable and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse in the City of Milwaukee) and via streaming video on the city website at city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25.
