City of Wauwatosa Seeks Artists for Shipping Container Mural Arts Project
(Wauwatosa, Wis – February 11, 2020) – The City of Wauwatosa is building upon the excitement of its new mural arts program and is seeking submissions from Artists for a mural to be installed on a shipping container located in Hart Park in the Village of Wauwatosa. The Wauwatosa Tourism Commission is sponsoring the mural installation and the project is funded by hotel tax revenue.
“Public art enhances a city, attracting residents and tourists to experience Wauwatosa in a different way,” said Melissa Weiss, Director of Administrative Services for the City of Wauwatosa. “We are thrilled to be bringing murals and hopefully world-class muralists to the gem of our park system, Hart Park, this year.”
Three walls of the shipping container have been allocated for the mural installation. Artists have the option to apply for all three surfaces of the container, two surfaces, or one surface. Artists can submit a total of three proposals.
The Call is open to both local and national Artists. Stipends related to travel are available for Artists traveling from outside of the Milwaukee area.
Applications are due April 1, 2020. Selected artist(s) will be notified April 17, 2020.
