Christmas in June: Acacia Gives Romantic Comedy

MILWAUKEE (May 14, 2025) – After years of growing up and dreaming big, two dear friends in the setting of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice are eager for life in Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Georgiana plays music about love while hesitating to pursue it; Kitty advocates for her friend’s abilities, through which her own are developed. Amidst romantic intrigue, family presumptions, societal standards, and personal risk, can the friends protect each other and their peace? Fit for any season, this charming production and story follows Acacia’s Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, a box office hit in 2023 and in its 2024 revival.

Director Erin Nicole Eggers returns to the helm, praised for her “simple and intimate” (Shepherd Express) staging of Miss Bennet. Over half of the “outstanding” (Shepherd Express) ensemble also returns to Georgiana and Kitty, led by two rising actors in the Milwaukee theatre scene. Jena Dorn, who left a “solid impression” (Total Theater) for her performance in Miss Bennet, plays Georgiana. She is joined by Lily Lourigan, who recently starred in the world premiere of Life Cycle of a Star at Carthage College, in the role of Kitty. The diversity and talent of Acacia’s cast confirms its shared belief with playwrights Gunderson and Melcon: “Jane Austen is for everyone.”
