MILWAUKEE – On Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4 County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson will host elected officials from across Wisconsin for the Progressive Governance Academy.

“Effective progressive leadership at the state and local level is vital to advancing policies that drive racial equity, address the climate crisis, and ensure the fair treatment of workers,” said Chairwoman Nicholson. “I am proud to host this incredible group of dedicated public servants for the Progressive Governance Academy. I look forward to learning from my peers and can’t wait to show them all that Milwaukee County has to offer.”

The Progressive Governance Academy is a recently-launched pilot program developed by Local Progress, re:power, and the State Innovation Exchange that aims to develop leadership and governance skills among progressive state and local elected officials.

The program will offer trainings on policy analysis, constituent outreach, coalition management, co-governance, and more from experienced state and local elected officials.

Friday’s trainings will be held at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, with a reception at the Milwaukee Public Museum following. Saturday’s activities will be held at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
