Celebrate World Bonsai Day at Boerner Botanical Gardens

Milwaukee, WI — Milwaukee County Parks invites the community to experience the artistry and tradition of bonsai at the World Bonsai Day Exhibit, hosted by the Boerner Botanical Gardens and the Milwaukee Bonsai Society on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boerner Botanical Gardens Visitor Center.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a stunning collection of bonsai displays, showcasing numerous unique and meticulously cultivated trees. Throughout the day, guests can also attend two live demonstrations titled “Making Bonsai From Inexpensive Nursery Stock” at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., offering a behind-the-scenes look at how everyday plants can be transformed into living works of art.

“World Bonsai Day is an international event that celebrates the ancient art of bonsai, honoring its role in promoting peace, harmony, and respect for nature,” said Jennifer Gamez, Botanical Gardens Director. “We’re proud to partner with the Milwaukee Bonsai Society to bring this enriching event to the community.”

Rick Walters, President of the Bonsai Society said, “Part of the mission of MBS is increasing public awareness of bonsai as an art form. We are very excited about this opportunity for visitors to the Garden to see the trees and for our members to share their knowledge.”

Admission to the exhibit is included with regular entry to Boerner Botanical Gardens. No pre-registration is required.
