Celebrate Voter Registration Day the way it was intended

Statement from Alderman Khalif J. Rainey September 22, 2020

By - Sep 22nd, 2020 09:11 am

Today, just 42 days away from the fall General Election, we recognize Voter Registration Day. To commemorate this day, I’m asking Milwaukee residents to take a few minutes of your time to make sure you are #VoteReady for November 3rd. I also want to remind residents of today’s Hip-Hop Political Education Summit, a new day-long streaming event featuring key rap artists and other prominent voices in the fight for systemic change. The summit will be streaming live on REVOLT’s YouTube channel, website, and Facebook page.

There are ample ways in which residents can register to vote. For those who prefer to utilize postal services, you can visit the Milwaukee Election Commission website here to download and print a registration application to return via mail. This must be accompanied by a copy of a proper proof of residence document.

You can also register to vote online directly at www.myvote.wi.gov. To utilize this option, voters will need a valid, unexpired Wisconsin Driver License or Wisconsin State ID Card. You will also need to match the name, date of birth, and address on file with the Wisconsin DMV. If you need to update your address you can do so directly on the DMV website.

In person voter registration options exist as well. You can visit any Milwaukee Public Library for registration assistance between now and October 14th, Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Election commission staff will be on-site to assist. You can also stop by the Milwaukee Election Commission office at Room 501, City Hall, 200 East Wells St. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Additional voter registration information can be found at https://city.milwaukee.gov/election/Voter-Info/RegisterToVote
