Cavazos Appointment Moves Forward to Full Common Council
Today the Milwaukee Public Safety and Health Committee unanimously recommended approval of Tara Cavazos’s appointment as 11th District representative for the Safety and Civic Commission. Currently, Cavazos serves as the Executive Director of the South 27th Street Business District Association, where she recently developed and executed a new transit shelter concept, added key technology to a local neighborhood watch, partnered with local law enforcement for FLOCK camera installations, and has hosted and supported intergenerational events with multiple partners.
Alderman Peter Burgelis stated, “I am proud to have submitted her nomination, and I know that Commissioner Cavazos will strive to help develop strong strategic plans meant to create positive outcomes for the community. She will effect a safer and more vibrant Milwaukee.”
Ms. Cavazos said of her appointment: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and represent my community by strategizing for positive and impactful change across the City of Milwaukee.”
“I want to thank my colleagues on the Public Safety and Health Committee for their support as the nomination now moves to the full Common Council for final approval on February 11,” the Alderman said.
