Captain Pabst’s Golden Tap Project to Launch in September

Proceeds will be donated to organizations supporting Milwaukee communities

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (August 31, 2020) – In the effort to carry on the legacy of Captain Frederick Pabst, one of Milwaukee’s earliest and most notable philanthropists, and to better serve the local community, Captain Pabst Pilot House is pleased to announce the creation of the Golden Tap project.

The Golden Tap is a dedicated tap handle at Captain Pabst Pilot House where 100% of the proceeds from all beer sold on that handle will be dedicated to a specific charitable organization. The Golden Tap program will partner with existing organizations, programs and advocates in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin working to support local communities in a meaningful way.

Starting in September, Wisconsin Voices will be the first Golden Tap partner organization, in support of their Fair Maps Coalition initiative. The organizations the Golden Tap supports will change each month.

“We want to take a proactive stance in our community, with the goal of giving back to the people and organizations that are working every day to improve Milwaukee,” said Captain Pabst Pilot House General Manager Adam Powers. “We are so lucky to have called Milwaukee home since 1844 and we want to carry on the legacy that Captain Pabst started generations ago, namely giving back to the community that has given us so much.”

In addition to donations, Captain Pabst Pilot House will post promotional signage for the organizations in the Pilot House and work with them to build a social media campaign. The Pilot House space will also be available to organizations to host an event such as a panel discussion, fundraiser, or voter registration drive.

“We are actively working to educate our staff and guests to be better advocates, allies, and community supporters,” said Aly Mitchell, the event coordinator for Captain Pabst Pilot House. “We have such a unique space here that we think it is only right to offer it up to organizations who are working to make Milwaukee and Wisconsin a better and more inclusive place.”

Organizations interested in becoming a Golden Tap project partner can reach Aly Mitchell at event@pabst.com.

Captain Pabst Pilot House is in a historic 148-year old building on the original Pabst complex – the former First German Methodist Church located on the corner of Juneau Avenue and 11th Street.
