Bryan Steil’s Shady Ties to Cryptocurrency

MADISON, Wis. — Bryan Steil prides himself on the fact that he “requested” to serve as chairman for the subcommittee that oversees cryptocurrency regulation. It’s not surprising considering before his leadership appointment, he received nearly $1 million from prediction market companies and cryptocurrency trading platforms.

Bryan Steil’s list of crypto-aligned donors include online markets that allow for prediction trading based on real world events he has a direct impact in determining the outcome of, such as the war in Iran, as well as cryptocurrency trading platforms under investigation for failure to protect every day working people making small, first-time investments.

“Bryan Steil’s claims about integrity are half-hearted considering how shady and secretive he’s been about taking campaign donations from the same people he’s helping to rig the rules for against working Wisconsinites,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Rachel La Due. “Steil’s whole career in Congress has been about enriching himself and the donors stuffing his pockets, not doing what’s best for Wisconsinites in the 1st Congressional District.”
