Brewers Unveil Latest Community Mural in Green Bay
On Thursday, August 28, the Milwaukee Brewers will unveil their latest community mural. The mural, illustrated and painted by Green Bay artist, Andrew Linskens, will be located on the back of the Hurckman Mechanical Industries, Inc. building at 164 North Broadway in Green Bay, Wis.
The mural, depicting the iconic Brewers Barrelman, is the fifth mural installed – and first in Green Bay – as part of the Milwaukee Brewers #BeyondTheDiamond community engagement efforts, celebrating fans from communities around the state, and at the same time, contributing to efforts to beautify spaces. The classic mascot is portrayed on his off-day fishing in Green Bay.
In the effort to identify the right location and space, the Brewers worked closely with On Broadway, Inc. – the 501(c)(3) nonprofit tasked with supporting the Broadway District as Green Bay’s cultural core for entrepreneurs, creatives, residents and visitors. Together, they identified the Hurckman Mechanical Industries building, where the company headquarters relocated to in 2023, marking a significant transition in its operations and services in the region.
Andrew Linskens is a multidisciplinary artist based in Green Bay, Wis., whose work draws from scientific observation, Midwestern aesthetics and pop culture. With a background in meteorology and media production, he brings a unique perspective to his award-winning fine art, large-scale murals, and immersive live art collaborations. Linskens also teaches art and design at UW-Green Bay, blending creative practice with education.
The Brewers have deepened their commitment to community engagement through a vibrant mural initiative that brings art and baseball together across the city and state. As part of their #BeyondTheDiamond efforts, the Brewers unveiled the “El Paletero” mural, designed by Michael Cerda and installed at the Heavy Hitters Athletic Facility in Milwaukee as well as the Brewers branded mural outside American Family Field. In addition, the “Field of Play” mural, designed by Whitney Nettles, was installed at the Little Village Play Café in Wauwatosa. The most recent mural addition, highlighting Brewers catcher William Contreras, was unveiled in Black Cat Alley in Milwaukee this June. The murals celebrate themes of teamwork, belonging, and joy, all values that mirror the spirit of baseball. By partnering with local artists, the Brewers aim to transform public spaces into colorful tributes to community pride and creativity.
