Brewers Prospect Jace Avina Named Arizona Complex League Most Valuable Player
Avina Also Named Arizona Complex League Postseason All-Star
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Brewers prospect outfielder Jace Avina today was named Arizona Complex League Most Valuable Player by Minor League Baseball. The award was voted on by league managers.
In 36 games with ACL Brewers Blue, Avina batted .294 with 10 HR and 29 RBI. He led the ACL in home runs, slugging percentage (.630) and OPS (1.066) and ranked among leaders in on-base percentage (2nd, .436), extra-base hits (T4th, 19) and RBI (10th).
Avina was promoted to Class-A Carolina on Aug. 5 and finished his first professional season batting .271 with 15 HR and 54 RBI in 64 games between the two levels.
Avina was joined on the ACL postseason All-Star team by shortstop Jadher Areinamo, who hit .323 with 1 HR and 21 RBI in 34 games with ACL Brewers Gold before being promoted to Carolina on Aug. 1.
