MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers today named Al LeBoeuf (leh-BUFF) lead hitting coach and Eric Theisen (tyson) hitting coach. Both are on Major League coaching staffs for the first time in their careers. In addition, hitting coach Connor Dawson remains on the coaching staff while hitting coach Ozzie Timmons will not return for the 2025 season. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

“In his 15 seasons in the organization, Al has played a key role in the development of many of the young hitters you see on the Major League team today,” said Arnold. “His familiarity and relationships with all these players will be a great resource for us. Al has had a long journey to get here and we are very excited for him.”

Arnold added, “Al and Eric have worked alongside each other as hitting coaches in the farm system and we look forward to them joining Connor at the Major League level. At the same time, we want to thank Ozzie for all his contributions on the field and as a person over the last three seasons. We wish him all the best.”

LeBoeuf, 64, spent the last six seasons (2019-24) as a hitting coach at the Triple-A level with San Antonio (2019-20) and Nashville (2021-24). LeBoeuf has also coached in the organization at Double-A Huntsville (2010-11), Nashville (2012), Class-A Wisconsin (2016), Triple-A Colorado Springs (2017) and Double-A Biloxi (2018). He spent the 2013 season as a player development scout and served as hitting advisor at the team’s complex in Phoenix from 2014-15.

LeBoeuf coached in the Phillies (1989-2000), Mets (2001-05), Royals (2006) and Blue Jays (2007-09) farm systems prior to joining the Brewers. He managed at Class-A Batavia (1993-95), Class-A Clearwater (1996) and Double-A Reading (1997-98) with Philadelphia. He was named Eastern League Manager of the Year in 1997.

Selected by Philadelphia in the 28th round of the 1981 draft, LeBoeuf played in the Phillies organization from 1981-88.

Theisen, 39, is coming off his fourth season in the Brewers organization and third as assistant hitting coordinator (2022-24). He also served as hitting coach at Triple-A Nashville alongside LeBoeuf in 2024. He joined the Brewers as hitting coach at Class-A Carolina in 2021.

Prior to joining the Brewers, Theisen spent eight seasons (2014-21) as head coach at Hillsdale College (MI), where he led the Chargers to NCAA Division II tournament berths in 2016 and 2018 and was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2016. He served as an assistant coach at Hillsdale College from 2011-13 and at Siena Heights University (MI) from 2008-10. Theisen played at Illinois State University from 2004-08.
