MILWAUKEE USO Wisconsin’s “Special Delivery Wisconsin”, a community celebration of babies born to military personnel and their spouses, welcomes “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” Author Heidi Murkoff for the organization’s third annual event.

“Special Delivery Wisconsin” will take place on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the Milwaukee County War Memorial, 750 North Lincoln Memorial Dr., in Milwaukee. Currently serving military or military spouses who are pregnant or have given birth since December 11, 2017 or later will be in attendance.

“This is a great opportunity for new or expectant moms to have their pregnancy questions answered by a well-known expert like Murkoff and connect with other women in the community,” says Josh Sova, executive director of USO Wisconsin. “Many of these mothers do not have a nearby relative who can throw them a shower, so this is a way for our community to show our appreciation for the sacrifices military families make for our freedom.”

USO Wisconsin is seeking community donations for the shower, including money or gift cards, strollers, pack ‘n plays, swings, exer-saucers, baby monitors, baby carriers or slings, and diaper bags. People are encouraged to write messages of thanks to a service member and their spouse to include with their donation. Items can be dropped off at the Milwaukee County War Memorial, Room 407.

Murkoff, who is returning to Milwaukee for her second USO Wisconsin event, wrote the first guide book during her first pregnancy, when she couldn’t find answers to her pre-natal questions. With 18.5 million copies in print, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” is read by 93% of women in search of prenatal advice and was named one of the “Most Influential Books of the Last 25 Years” by USA Today. In addition to her book series, Murkoff has established the popular website WhatToExpect.com..

Dinner, giveaways, a book signing and photo opportunity with Heidi Murkoff are among the evening’s activities. Questions about donations should be directed to: joshsova@usowisconsin.org, or call 414-763-2214.
