Baldwin Wraps Up “fighting for Wisconsin Families” Tour After Nearly 45 Stops
In month-long tour, Baldwin highlights work to lower costs as Republicans gut Medicaid and nutrition assistance and Donald Trump’s trade war drags on
WISCONSIN – This week, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) wrapped up the fourth and final week of her “Fighting for Wisconsin Families” tour, making nearly 45 stops across Wisconsin talking to families about the issues impacting their communities – including the housing and child care affordability crises, Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid and nutrition assistance, supporting Made in Wisconsin manufacturing, and the rising cost and chaos of Donald Trump’s trade war.
“I launched the ‘Fighting for Wisconsin Families Tour’ to show up and listen to Wisconsinites about the challenges they are facing and what we can do to tackle them, together. No matter where I traveled, I heard from working families who are staring down the rising cost of everything and just want a fair shot and a little breathing room. Whether it’s cuts to health care and nutrition assistance or the chaos of Donald Trump’s ongoing trade war, this Administration is making it harder for Wisconsinites to make ends meet while doing nothing to address the housing, childcare, and workforce crises every single community in our state is facing,” said Senator Baldwin. “This month, I crisscrossed Wisconsin, talking to our neighbors about what we can do to give them a chance to not just get by, but get ahead. We have a lot of work to do, and I’m headed back to D.C. ready to continue my work with Republicans and Democrats to lower costs for Wisconsin’s working families and hold President Trump accountable as he continues to fall short on his promise to bring costs down on day one.”
Senator Baldwin visited Milwaukee, Brown, Door, Lincoln, Sawyer, Ashland, Douglas, Eau Claire, Burnett, Buffalo, Dane, Grant, La Crosse, Racine, Kenosha, Rock, Winnebago, Marathon, and Wood counties in her statewide tour that crisscrossed Wisconsin.
Week 1
Senator Baldwin visits with Wisconsinites in Door County to discuss Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid
In Milwaukee, Baldwin met with small business owners to hear about the impacts of President Trump’s erratic trade war and how they are forced to raise prices on their customers. Baldwin then visited ThriveOn to see firsthand how the community hub brings together services ranging from job training to childcare. Then, Senator Baldwin stopped by the State Fair to serve up one of Wisconsin’s best delicacies – cream puffs.
In Green Bay, Senator Baldwin toured Hinterland Brewery and heard from local businesses about the uncertainty they face because of President Trump’s trade war. Baldwin then stopped by Green Bay’s first-ever neighborhood community house – the Brown County United Way’s City East Center. To round out the day in Brown County, Senator Baldwin met with local business owners and Main Street Alliance members to hear how the Republicans’ budget bill is impacting them.
In Door County, Senator Baldwin toured Door County Medical Center and heard from impacted families and providers about how Medicaid cuts will impact rural healthcare and gut services that families rely on.
Heading north, Senator Baldwin convened a roundtable in Tomahawk with advocates and parents about the childcare crisis in Wisconsin. Baldwin then headed to Hayward to join WOJB radio on air and discuss the impacts the federal funding cuts will have on their operations. The cuts will eliminate 40% of WOJB’s operating budget, jeopardizing its ability to provide essential local news and emergency alerts. Then, Senator Baldwin toured the David R. Obey Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland.
Week 2
In Superior, Baldwin convened business and community leaders to discuss how they can invest in affordable housing to keep costs down for families and meet workforce demands for local businesses.
Senator Baldwin also traveled to Grantsburg and Eau Claire to meet with local health care providers and discuss how Republicans’ budget bill will devastate rural hospitals and terminate health care for an estimated 250,000 Wisconsinites.
Senator Baldwin also visited Rosenholm Dairy in Cochrane to discuss her DAIRY PRIDE Act, legislation to crack down on imitation dairy products using names like milk, cheese, and yogurt and profiting off of dairy’s good name.
Following devastating flooding and extreme weather in Southeastern Wisconsin, Senator Baldwin also visited Milwaukee to survey the damage and meet with local leaders on their plans for recovery.
Week 3
Baldwin visits Feed America in Milwaukee to help volunteers package food for flood victims
Senator Baldwin kicked off the week by visiting with Madison Metropolitan School District teachers and staff at La Follette High School to talk about her work fighting the Trump Administration’s continued threat to shut down the Department of Education.
The Senator then traveled to Grant County Regional Medical Center in Lancaster and St. Clare Health Mission in La Crosse to discuss how Republicans’ budget bill will gut Medicaid and jeopardize rural hospitals’ ability to keep their doors open.
In addition to highlighting Medicaid cuts in Republicans’ budget bill, Senator Baldwin also hosted a roundtable in Kenosha to discuss how the legislation’s $186 billion cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will strip needed food assistance from Wisconsin families.
As Southeastern Wisconsin continues to recover from devastating flooding earlier this month, Senator Baldwin also visited Feeding America in Milwaukee to assist in packing food and water for Wisconsinites who have been impacted by extreme weather. She also joined officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) who were on the ground in Milwaukee on Friday to survey the damage. Senator Baldwin also stopped in Racine to meet with local businesses that are feeling the impacts of Donald Trump’s trade war, which has created months of chaos and uncertainty for Wisconsin businesses.
Back in Milwaukee, Senator Baldwin addressed the National Guard Association of the United States’ (NGAUS) 147th General Conference & Exhibition, where thousands of National Guardsmen and officers from across the country were gathered. She also was honored as the 2025 recipient of the Harry S. Truman Award, the NGAUS’s most prestigious honor for her leadership in expanding access to affordable health care for guardsmen.
Week 4
Senator Baldwin opened her final week on the “Fighting for Wisconsin Families” tour in Janesville talking to families, providers, and advocates at YWCA Rock County about the childcare crisis.
On Tuesday, Senator Baldwin toured Neenah Foundry to highlight her continued support for Made in Wisconsin manufacturing before traveling to Fincantieri ACE Marine in Green Bay for an event on American-made shipbuilding. Senator Baldwin has been a leader in the fight to increase shipbuilding in the United States, counter China’s dominance in the industry, and support good-paying jobs.
Senator Baldwin then traveled to Wausau, stopping by the Wausau Farmers Market to connect with local farmers and constituents before hosting a roundtable with Marathon County leaders on how Republicans’ historic cuts to nutrition assistants programs will jack up grocery store costs on working families, leave kids hungry, and hurt Wisconsin agricultural producers.
Finally, Senator Baldwin visited with the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, listening to small business owners and CEOs about how she can continue to support Made in Wisconsin businesses and workers, while confronting needs that impact local economies tariffs, growing the workforce, and barriers to affordable childcare and housing.
