August 11 Update – Traffic Advisory: High Water Levels

By - Aug 11th, 2025 12:38 pm

Due to recent heavy rainfall and rising water levels, several roadways across Southeastern Wisconsin have been reported as flooded and/or impassable. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is advising motorists to be alert and take extra caution.

Flash flooding has forced lane or ramp closures along parts of I-41 and I-94, along with segments of certain state highways.

Current impacts: (Updated August 11)

  • I-94 eastbound lane and exit ramp closure at Mitchell Boulevard, Milwaukee County
    • Anticipated to reopen by mid-afternoon
  • I-41 northbound lane closure near County Line Road, Waukesha/Washington County
  • 27th Street (WIS 241) near the Root River is closed in both directions, Milwaukee County

While it’s difficult to predict if or where flooding may occur, WisDOT offers these tips:

  • Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads.
  • Follow official closures.
  • Stay alert and slow down.
  • If you must travel, check the 511 Travel Information system (511wi.gov) for the latest on any incidents or delays.

Motorists should continue to remain vigilant. Flooding conditions may change rapidly. For real-time updates and roadway status, visit 511wi.gov.
