Milwaukee, WI — Walker’s Point Center for the Arts Announces Opening Reception for “invitations to a feast that may or may not reach you.”

The Walker’s Point Center for the Arts (WPCA) is excited to present “invitations to a feast that may or may not reach you” an evocative exhibition curated by the Perishable Goods Collective. This transdisciplinary group of anti-caste practitioners, consisting of Sri Vamsi Matta, Tabitha Percy, Bao, and Rahee Punyashloka, explores the intersections of food and oppressed caste identities in South Asia.

Perishable Goods Collective is dedicated to creation, curation, and conservation at the intersection of food and oppressed caste identities. Through their artistic practice, the collective highlights the unique ways in which food and caste interject and intersect within Indian society, asserting the risk, the liberatory potential, and the joy inherent in these culinary traditions.

Exhibiting artists in the show include:
Sri Vamsi Matta (Vamsi): A Bangalore-based interdisciplinary theatre artist, Vamsi’s work is deeply rooted in his Dalit identity. His acclaimed projects, such as Star in the Sky and Come Eat with Me, capture the struggles and resilience of Dalit communities through personal storytelling and shared culinary experiences.

The Big Fat Bao (Bao): A Mumbai-based visual designer and design researcher, Bao’s work challenges hegemonic visual languages and promotes greater critical awareness among designers. Their illustrations have been featured in several international publications including Futuress, The Trouble Maker’s Magazine, and Index on Censorship. Their recent work The Anticaste Atlas Of Mumbai was showcased at the Sister Library in Mumbai.

Tabitha Percy (Percy): A visual artist from Hyderabad, Percy uses art to explore constitutional values with marginalized women. Her work has been showcased at prestigious venues, including the Arles Photo Festival and the Conflictorium in Ahmedabad.

Rahee Punyashloka (Rahee): Based in Bhubaneswar and New Delhi, Rahee is an artist, writer, researcher, and experimental filmmaker. His work illuminates the unrepresented artistic history of the anti-caste struggle. His notable exhibitions include appearances at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and Tribeca Film Festival.
