Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin Backs Mining for America Act
Senate Committee Holds Field Hearing in Ladysmith Today
MADISON, WI – Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin today called on lawmakers to support SB395, the Mining for America Act, that repeals Wisconsin’s longstanding ban on mining and modernizes several outdated, job-killing regulations on the state’s once-vibrant mining industry. The announcement from AFP-WI, the state’s largest free-market grassroots organization with a base of over 130,000 activists, comes as the Senate Committee on Sporting Heritage, Mining, and Forestry holds a special public field hearing in Ladysmith today.
Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin State Director Eric Bott made the following statement:
“AFP-Wisconsin fully supports the Mining for America Act and urges all lawmakers to vote for it. While Madison prepares to give a three billion dollar tax incentive to create jobs in Southern Wisconsin, they must not ignore the citizens and the economy of Northern Wisconsin. Northern Wisconsinites are not asking for a taxpayer handout or any special treatment. They are simply asking for the government to get out of the way and allow them to safely and responsibly develop their own abundant natural resources. For far too long, unemployment in Northern Wisconsin has remained higher than in other parts of our state. Pro-growth reforms like the Mining for America Act will help to reinvigorate the region’s economy while still maintaining the highest standards for public health and safety. We commend Senator Tom Tiffany and Representative Rob Hutton for their leadership on this issue.”
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) exists to recruit, educate, and mobilize citizens in support of the policies and goals of a free society at the local, state, and federal level, helping every American live their dream – especially the least fortunate. AFP has more than 3.2 million activists across the nation, a local infrastructure that includes 36 state chapters, and has received financial support from more than 100,000 Americans in all 50 states. AFP-WI Issues New Legislative Endorsements for July
Jul 6th, 2026 by AFP WisconsinWisconsin faces the most important election in a generation this year. Property taxes are too high, energy costs are out of control, and yet Democrats continue pushing policies that will continue to increase the pain being felt by families. That’s why we endorsed Tom Tiffany and our other policy champions, and why we’re adding Jim Croft and Bobby Lindsey to our slate of endorsed candidates.; Jim and Bobby have proven themselves as candidates who understand the values that make Wisconsin special. Both believe in the power of the free market, small business, education freedom, and commonsense fiscal policies that help all Wisconsinites. We’re glad to give them both our endorsement, and we look forward to helping them win in November.

I don’t understand why this joke of a group funded by the Koch brothers gets any space from Urban Milwaukee or any other reputable news organization. The only free market they advocate for is for the rich to freely exploit the people who who are not in power. A joke of an organization.
